I’m not entirely sure how to review this book. It did take me a a while to finish it, books from the midcentury era often do. The words tend to have a different flow that’s not that easy to vibe with.
I’m also not entirely sure I liked it, but still feel it’s an important read. Definitely a book one needs to read and dissect in an academic setting to really drive home the plot and subject.
One thing that does stick out to me is the induction into The Brotherhood. Internally I was screaming it’s a trap! Cause neither character did anything that would warrant introduction into a resistance movement.
It’s all very eerie to read in this political atmosphere and being able to draw those parallels. Especially when he maintains that he remembers certain facts that have already been manipulated by Big Brother and being gaslit into thinking otherwise. I’ve had discussions with people who maintain that what I legitimately saw and heard in the news didn’t actually happen, or that my teeny tiny feminine brain must be taking what was said out of context.
I did rate the book 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
